Counselor Support and Skill Development

Our program is designed for all skill levels, from complete beginners to more experienced skiers. With the guidance of our counselors, children will improve their technique, build confidence, and enjoy the thrill of the slopes with friends. We emphasize teamwork and camaraderie, helping kids forge new friendships while developing their skills.

Throughout the experience, children will always be accompanied by their counselors—never left alone. Counselors help children get ready, ensuring they are equipped with the proper gear. They help children navigate the slopes and chairlifts. And, finally they help children get back on the van or bus with all their belongings at the end.

The student to counselor ratio is generally 2:1 or 3:1, with some exceptions for experienced older children (4:1) or children new to skiing / snowboarding (1:1 or 3:2). This ensures a secure and supportive atmosphere, enabling children to progress quickly and safely, all while having fun!

Convenient Transportation

On Wednesdays, our dedicated team will pick up from school around 3pm. We ensure a smooth transition from the classroom to the mountain, setting the stage for an exciting afternoon of skiing.  Snacks are provided and homework is encouraged. We return by 9:30pm on Wednesdays.  On Sundays, transportation is provided to/from a central location near Summit, typically meeting by 7:20am and returning by 5:30pm.

Mountain Passes Included

For children that register for the 9-trip program, a season pass to the mountain is included. The season pass is not valid during holiday periods as none of the club trips are during a holiday period. However, if you would like to add the holiday period to your child’s pass, you will be able to select this option on the registration form for an additional $50 charge.

For children that register for the 5-trip or 4-trip programs, passes for trip days are provided. Season pass upgrades are available for an additional charge.

If you have already purchased a season pass for your child, you can note that on the registration form to receive a discount.

Meals and Snacks Included

Wednesdays: afterschool snack and dinner are provided

Sundays: breakfast, lunch, and snacks are provided

We will ensure that a large range of foods and snacks are available in addition to water. However, additional food, drinks, snacks, candy and waffles are also available for purchase, but the child must have a cashless method of payment. These additional purchases are truly not necessary as ample food is included.

New to Skiing or Snowboarding?

No Problem! We have seen tremendous success for our new skiers and snowboarders. Especially over 9 sessions, progress is truly amazing! For our new skiers and snowboarders, a private 4 hour session is included prior to the start of the club sessions so that the child can become familiar with the mountain and their gear, while also learning the basics: stopping and turning! The private session is scheduled at a time in December that is mutually convenient; however, the parent will be required to transport their child to and from the mountain for this special session.

Children Under 7

Though the program is ideal for ages 7-12, children 4-6 are allowed if their parent believes they are ready for the experience. For all children under 7, an additional charge in line with a new skier/snowboarder is in effect as the student to counselor ratios are kept very small and an initial private lesson is included.

Cold and Dangerous Weather

Our priority is happy children on the mountain (that are not miserably cold), though we have seen some serious resilience in cold temperatures.  We monitor weather closely and make adjustments for safety and optimal conditions.  Generally, if temperatures are forecasted to go below 10 degrees or terrain is expected to be very icy, we will adjust or cancel the trip.

Timing on Sundays may move up or back for optimal conditions.  And, if a Sunday session is cancelled, a prorated refund will be provided.

If a Wednesday session is cancelled, it will be rescheduled for March 4th, the make-up date.  If an additional Wednesday session is cancelled, a prorated refund will be provided.

Gear

Families are responsible for obtaining a season rental for skis or snowboards, as well as boots and purchasing warm, waterproof clothing and a helmet for their child. To ensure that our young skiers maximize their time on the slopes, we do not allow mountain rentals.

We highly recommend utilizing local seasonal rental options to streamline the process. To assist you, we provide a comprehensive checklist of required items.

One recommended local shop is Colorado Snow & Skate, conveniently located at 1253 Springfield Ave in New Providence. They offer a great selection of seasonal rentals, outerwear, and protective gear. Their knowledgeable staff is always ready to answer any questions and address any concerns you may have.

Equipping your child properly will ensure a fantastic and safe skiing experience. Feel free to reach out if you need further assistance!

Volunteers

It take a village! Parent volunteers are most welcome. Counselors, lodge coordinators, and drivers are all needed for the club to run smoothly. Parent volunteers receive a discount of $1,250; however, a 9-session commitment is required.

Alternatively, it is very helpful to sign up for our substitute list in the case of illness or emergency for one of our counselors/volunteers. If you serve as a substitute, a prorated discount will be applied.

In the registration page, you will be able to note interest in volunteering and/or being a substitute. However, volunteering or substituting is only if the parent would like to participate and is an adventurer at heart - it is not required.
